Library & Music Room

In 2009 I designed two additions to a home in Wendell, MA. My clients were preparing to retire and wanted new spaces added to the original house for their own particular needs.

The north wing is a music room large enough to house two grand pianos, along with an office and seating area. The music room features vaulted ceilings with timber frame details which complement the original house. The floor is a slab on grade with radiant heat finished with white oak.

The south wing is a library and study with floor to ceiling wrap around custom bookshelves and storage cupboards. The desk was built from wide boards sawn on site from logs from a white pine tree that was cut down from their neighbor's property across the street.

Heating and cooling is provided by a Geothermal heat pump and Multiaqua brand MHWW series ‘mini split’ type heads.
